  • 2 lbs ground turkey
  • 8 oz tomato paste
  • 8 oz beef or bone broth (you can also use 8 oz of water)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 5-7 cloves garlic, minced (1 clove garlic = 1 tsp minced garlic)
  • 3 bell peppers, diced (you can use any color – red, yellow, orange, or green)
  • 1 15 oz can of kidney beans, rinsed
  • 1 15 oz can of petite diced tomatoes (or, 1 cup fresh diced tomatoes)
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp oregeno
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1-2 tbsp corn masa flour
  • Toppings: Shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, avocado, and tortilla chips

  1. Add the ground turkey to a skillet and cook over medium heat.
  2. Remove the ground turkey from the heat and drain the remaining fat.
  3. Crockpot method: Add all other ingredients (except the toppings and corn masa) into the crockpot. Set for 4-6 hours.
  4. Stovetop method: saute the vegetables (onion, garlic, bell peppers) in a skillet over medium heat (using vegetable oil. Once the vegetables are cooked (soft to the touch), add the remaining ingredients (except the toppings and the corn masa). Allow all ingredients to simmer for 15-30 min (the longer the ingredients simmer, the more flavorful the meal will be).
  5. Once the chili is cooked, whether crockpot or stovetop, add corn masa to thicken the dish – you can add as much or as little to create the desired consistency.
  6. Add desired toppings – sour cream, cheese, avocado, chips, maybe another sprinkle of salt, and enjoy your delicious chili!
